- 2019 model gets new blue colour
- Continues to get DCT gearbox
- Competes against Triumph Tiger 800 XCx, BMW F850GS
Honda has just launched the 2019 version of their litre-class adventure bike, the Africa Twin. The 2019 version has been launched at Rs 13.5 lakhs, and bookings for the first 50 bikes have commenced across 22 cities.
The 2019 version has received only a new paint scheme in the form of updates. The 2019 Africa Twin is now available in glint wave blue metallic colour. The Japanese maker has also launched the matte black option at 2018 EICMA but it’s not available in India as of now.
Mechanically, there are no changes. The 2019 Africa Twin continues to be powered by a 998cc, parallel-twin engine mated to a six-speed automatic dual clutch transmission. The motor generates 88bhp of power at 7500rpm and 93Nm of torque at 6000rpm.
The Africa Twin rides rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels, shod with Bridgestone dual-sport tyres in place of Dunlops. The suspension setup consists of 45mm cartridge-type Showa inverted front forks and a Pro-Link rear monoshock. Stopping power is provided by dual 310mm petal discs at the front and a 256mm petal disc at the rear. ABS is offered as standard, and can be turned off for the rear wheel
The Africa Twin competes with the Triumph Tiger 800 XCx and the BMW F850GS. Except the BMW, all the bikes are assembled in India.
