After being a subject of a number speculative rumours and a lot of excitement, Honda has finally taken the wraps off the Honda RC213V-S. The Japanese manufacturer has now started accepting bookings for this road-legal MotoGP bike, which can be yours for ‘just’ USD 1,84,000 (Rs 1.17 crore), excluding taxes and custom duties.
The Honda RC213V-S was unveiled during the race weekend of the Catalan Grand Prix, after which MotoGP champion Casey Stoner gave a demonstration by doing a demo lap of the Circuit de Catalunya. Based on the RC213V MotoGP bike that won two championships under the command of Marc Marquez, the RC213V-S is powered by an extremely compact 1,000cc 90-degree V4 engine. While reports had been speculating power figures of around 200 horsepower, Honda has surprised everyone by revealing the technical details of the RC213V-S. While Europe and Australia will get the bike in 160 horsepower guise, the US-spec bike gets around 100 horsepower. While this might seem like a downer, Honda is expected to offer an optional track-only upgrade for the motorcycle, which should bring the number up to 215 horsepower.
To be built strictly on an order basis, the RC213V-S will come crammed with all of technical wizardry that Honda has to offer. While the Rs 1.17 crore might not get you mind boggling speed that you would have expected, it will get you a piece of history. With just 200 to 250 units expected to made, exclusivity is guaranteed!
