Honda India may launch a 100cc motorcycle tomorrow which will directly compete with the Hero Splendor. Code named K23; the company has been developing this motorcycle since past few months and is based on the Dream Yuga platform. The Japanese manufacturer is marketing this motorcycle as a ‘Superstar’ and have already launched a teaser image on their official website in this regard.
“The new 100-110cc offering is the value-engineered version of the existing 100-110cc bike and will be priced aggressively so it can be positioned in the Splendor segment. Yet again, the company is striving for higher fuel economy as the USP." a source told to Economic Times last month.
The Splendor series contributes to 25 per cent of Hero’s annual revenue. The Japanese manufacturer is planning to go the Hero way where they plan to develop and launch a series of motorcycle which will be based on the Dream Yuga platform and called as the ‘Dream’ series.
The Hero Splendor series retails between Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000 and this is range where Honda will have to price their new 100cc motorcycle.
