The bike that we will be looking at here is the Honda Monkey 125 Concept displayed at the Vietnam Motorcycle Show. Honda has not confirmed any details on its production version yet and its entry in India seems most unlikely. And, even if this styling has never been a part of Honda's mass market model here, we think it deserves a pat on the back. Check out the details through these pictures.
It's a funky yet retrostyled concept based on the MSX125 aka Grom overseas. In flesh, it looks exactly similar to the patent images leaked in September 2016.
The Monkey 125 concept rightly pays homage to the original Monkey bike, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in Japan.
The circular headlamp is simple but gets LEDs adding to the appeal. Similarly, the instrumentation cluster is shaped in an old-fashioned manner, but incorporates an LCD.
The bike's fuel tank is painted in metallic blue, gold and silver tones. The Monkey's single seat is held in place by a fluorescent tubular frame replacing the MSX's subframe.
The concept also comes powered by the same fuel-injected 124.9cc petrol mill from the MSX 125. This engine produces 9.8bhp of power and 10.9Nm of torque.
While the Grom gets a rear monoshock, the concept features dual shock absorbers to add to the retro feel. Still you can notice a rear disc brake for practicality and modern appeal.
The blue rear metal fender nicely holds the LED tail lamp and turn indicators. This is also where the registration plate holder has been cleverly stuck on to.
The alloy wheels get a two-tone black and silver finish to set it apart. These are shod with Maxxis Tortuga tyres of the 120/80-12 specification at both ends.
