- 15,848 units of Navi two-wheelers recalled in the US
- Issue with speedometer cable
- Will be fixed free of cost
Honda has recalled over 15,000 units of Navi scooters in the United States due to an issue with the speedometer cable. This recall is limited to the 2022-year models.
According to the Japanese brand, 15,848 units of the Navi have improper routing of the speedometer cable. This issue could cause the speedometer to break or detach, which would then render the speedometer inoperable. If this happens, it could increase the risk of a crash or injury. The first issue was detected in February 2022, and within a month, there was a report about the speedometer cable breaking. However, no injuries have been reported.
The Navi scooters that are sold in the US are made in India. The brand discontinued this two-wheeler from the Indian market due to poor response. However, in markets like the US, such two-wheelers are treated like fun and lifestyle products, so Navi has found many takers. But sadly, this two-wheeler can only be used on American city roads due to its small-sized engine and lower top speed.
Honda will notify the affected customers through its official dealer network starting on March 17. The dealer will replace the defective speedometer cable with a new one free of charge.
