The quirky Honda Navi seems to have hit the right chord with the Indian audience. With 15,000 bookings in the kitty, Honda has already delivered 10,000 units of the Navi within three months of the commencement of deliveries.
The Honda Navi was launched in India at the 2016 Auti Expo, kickstarting a completely new genre in the Indian two-wheeler market. The Navi was indigenously developed by Honda's Indian research and development arm, and is powered by the 110cc single-cylinder engine from the Activa 3G. With Honda offering a slew of optional extras for the Navi, customisability is a crucial part of the Navi's appeal. Every Honda dealership has a separate section set aside for this scooter, aimed at giving the customers an experience of the wide range of possibilities for the Navi's cutomisation.
While the Honda Navi is sold only in 10 cities as of now, the company is planning to bump this number up to 35 in the next few months taking into account the scooter’s growing popularity. Honda had also launched an exclusive cell phone app for the scooter, which has now crossed 44,000 downloads.
Expressing delight about the Navi’s response, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Sr VP, sales and marketing, HMSI said, “We are delighted with the overwhelming response for NAVI from customers, especially from urban trendsetting youth. Unconventional design, looks and endless possibilities of customization, make owning NAVI a FUNtastic experience.”
