The Honda Navi was first unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo as an experiment. While the company didn’t have high expectations from this quirky little ‘monkey bike’, the officials have been pleasantly surprised by the interest generated by the Navi. It was commercially rolled out in April and has managed to pass 50,000 units sale within six months.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president - sales and marketing at HMSI said, "With Navi, Honda has been successful in creating a new segment in the Indian two wheeler industry. The 50,000 units landmark in a matter of just six months is a testimony to its acceptance by the young trendsetting Indian commuters. We firmly believe customer experience and customer loyalty is priceless and their appreciation is an inspiration for all of us at Honda to continue to delight our customers in future too.”
In the first three months since the company commenced deliveries, Honda managed to sell over 15,000 units of the Navi. Such demand has now encouraged the company to ramp up the production of the Navi. The Japanese manufacturer is planning to double the capacity for the Navi at the Rajasthan facility, bringing it up from 50,000 units to 1 lakh units per annum.
At the moment the monkey bike from Honda faces no real competition in India. However, Benelli is expected to launch the TNT 135 in June next year. Be sure to expect a comparison review here on BikeWale.
