Introduction
The entry-level scooter segment is important for everyone - manufacturers, customers and dealers. Why? They are affordable, they are lightweight and easy to ride. With the Activa i leading the pack, there are many others who are trying to put a dent its sales. Trying its hand in this segment is the cool and youthful looking Honda Navi. So we have here a detailed spec comparison of the Honda Navi against the TVS Scooty Zest 110 and the Suzuki Lets.
Design & engine
It is the quirky styling that causes you to pause when it comes to the Navi. To help heighten the mysterious aura is the way it is being portrayed – as a mix of a scooter and a motorcycle. It appears to be a postergirl for a well-built bike comfortable in its skin. No extra bulk to mar its sides but that maybe what makes it a little too dull. You know, how we like our bikes to be, a full-fleshed and all. But underneath, it gets the high-selling Activa 3G engine. The overall body proportions of the Navi isn’t quite bulky, due to which it looks little skinny and uninspiring.
On the other hand, the Scooty Zest 110 and the Lets look good in their own ways, not beauty contest materials to be precise. The Scooty Zest 110 has a sharp fascia coupled with an attractive tail section.
The Lets too, shares the aggressive styling across the body. The sharp nose, flanked by two big turn indicators gives the Lets a good road presence. And thanks to the dual tone paint scheme offered by Suzuki, the Lets is a very attractive proposition.
Mechanically, all three scooters are powered by an 110cc single-cylinder engine. The one on the Honda Navi is the same one we see gurgling in the Activa 3G. It produces 8bhp and 8.96Nm as output, whereas the one on the Lets produces 8.7bhp and 9Nm of peak torque. The Scooty Zest 110 produces the least amount of power at 7.91bhp at 7500rpm and peak torque of 8.7Nm at 5,500rpm. All these engines are mated to a continuous variable transmission (CVT).
Features & Cycle parts
It seems like a copy paste job for most of the list if you were to look at all three. The trio comes with tubeless tyres, front telescopic forks and drum brake setup. The Scooty Zest 110 gets a built in indicator buzzer, while the other two don’t. When it comes to the instrument cluster, the one on the Lets has the most interesting design, followed by the Scooty Zest 110.
The Navi gets a very basic cluster, which may not find many likers. The Lets gets a mobile charging point but loses on storage space as the Scooty Zest has plenty of space under seat as well as a front storage space. You can however, rule that out on the Navi, due to its crossover design.
Price
Pricing has always been the deciding factor. And here too, it’ll play an important role. Out of the three, the Honda Navi is the most affordable one with a price tag of close to Rs 51,327 (on -road Mumbai). The Suzuki Lets comes second at Rs 55,757 (on-road Mumbai) and the TVS Scooty Zest 110 takes the last spot at Rs 56,500 (on-road Mumbai). With such a pricing for the two scooters, the Navi make things difficult for itself.
