The Honda Navi might have gotten off to a good start during its initial days, but the demand has been waning over the past few months. To renew the interest for the scooter, Honda has launched the 2018 model. It features a bunch of visual upgrades and is priced at Rs 44,775. But if the Navi doesn’t suit your taste, there are no less than 13 two-wheelers that you can opt for with a similar budget.
If you are looking for a commuter motorcycle, there are seven options to choose from. From Honda’s own stables is the CD 110 Dream, its most affordable motorcycle. It is priced at Rs 49,663, and is powered by a 109cc engine delivering 8.3bhp and 9Nm of torque. The country’s largest two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp, has three motorcycles - the HF Deluxe Eco, HF Deluxe i3S and the Splendor Plus. All three motorcycles are based on the same platform, although they get different styling to suit different tastes. The HF Deluxe and the Deluxe i3S are priced at Rs 45,134 and Rs 48,150 respectively, while the Splendor Plus sits in the middle with a price tag of Rs 45,753. All three are powered by a 97cc engine with different states of tune. The Splendor delivers 7.7bhp and 8Nm of torque, while the HF Deluxe siblings churn out 8.2bhp and 8Nm of torque.
Bajaj offers the Platina at Rs 47,539. It is powered by a 102cc engine which puts out 8.1bhp and 8.6Nm of torque. The other Japanese commuter bike in this list is the Yamaha Saluto RX, propelled by a 110cc engine delivering 7bhp and 8.5Nm of torque. It retails at Rs 48,021. TVS offers the Star City Plus at Rs 48,116. It is again a 110cc commuter bike with an output of 8.3bhp and 8.7Nm of torque.
If you are looking for the convenience and practicality of a scooter, there are four options. The Cliq is the most affordable offering in Honda’s portfolio at Rs 45,579. It is powered by the same engine as the Navi, a 109cc unit delivering 8bhp and 8.9Nm of torque. There are two options from Hero – the Duet and Pleasure. While the former is a unisex scooter powered by an 8.3bhp 110cc engine, the Pleasure is targeted at the female audience and gets a smaller 100cc 6.9bhp engine. The Duet is priced Rs 47,750 while the Pleasure retails at Rs 48,775. The TVS Scooty Pep Plus is another scooter targeted at women, and retails at Rs 39,995. It is powered by an 88cc engine delivering 5bhp and 6Nm of torque.
If you care about the environment and like to flaunt it, you can go for an electric scooter. There are two options to choose from. The Okinawa Ridge is priced at Rs 42,400. It can cover up to 90km on full charge, and boasts of a top speed of 55kmph. Then there is the Hero Electric Photon. It can attain a top speed of 45kmph and cover up to 80km on full charge. It is priced at Rs 46,151.
