-Bookings open at Big Wing dealerships
- Powered by a 471cc, parallel-twin engine
- Sits below the recently launched XL750 Transalp
Bookings for the new Honda NX500 adventure tourer have begun in India. Prospective customers can book the bike at Honda Big Wing dealerships by paying Rs 10,000. The NX500 is the company’s mid-capacity ADV that will sit below the recently launched XL750 Transalp in terms of pricing.
The Honda NX500, when launched will fill the void left behind by the discontinuation of the CB500X. Unlike the CB, the NX500 looks like a more purposeful adventure touring bike. This is evident in the rally-bike style fairing, tall windscreen, and the seating position. Speaking of, the NX500's seat height, at 830mm, should make it accessible to many.
Under the bodywork, there’s a diamond frame while the suspension setup consists of a USD fork and a monoshock. The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, alloy wheels shod with block-pattern tyres. Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear wheel. The bike is powered by a 471cc, parallel-twin engine that makes 47bhp and 43Nm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
As for the features, Honda has thrown in a decent amount of kit on the bike, which includes a five-inch TFT with smartphone connectivity and navigation.
The motorcycle will go up against the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Moto Morini X-Cape. We hope that, unlike the CB500X, Honda prices the NX500 competitively, around the Rs 7-7.5 lakh range.
