Honda has launched the NX500 adventure tourer at Rs. 5.90 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. This, however, is the introductory price and Honda is expected to raise the price after a few months. The NX500 is the only middleweight adventure tourer in Honda’s Indian portfolio, following the discontinuation of the CB500X.
A look at the specifications of the Honda NX500 shows that the bike gets a 471cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp at 8,600rpm and 43Nm at 6,500rpm. It gets a six-speed gearbox with an assist/slipper clutch.
The engine sits inside a diamond frame, which is suspended by a Showa SFF-BP USD fork and a link-type monoshock. The bike rides on 19-inch front, and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, fitted with block pattern tyres. Braking hardware consists of 296mm twin discs at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.
As far as the styling is concerned, it looks like a purposeful adventurer tourer, evident in the rally bike-style front fairing, 17.5-litre fuel tank, and proportionate rear end. The upright ergonomics and the wide seat suggest that spending long hours on the road shouldn’t be a bother.
Honda’s NX500 gets a decent set of features, such as all-LED lights and a five-inch colour TFT with Bluetooth and navigation. In terms of safety, it receives switchable traction control.
Honda’s new strategy of pricing their premium bikes aggressively is welcome, given the flak they’ve received in the past when it comes to the cost of their middle- and big-capacity bikes. At Rs. 5.90 lakh, the NX500 is priced competitively, and the only real rival in the vicinity of the Honda is the Benelli TRK 502, which is cheaper by Rs. 5,000.
Bookings are open at Honda Big Wing dealerships and deliveries are set to begin in February 2024.
