Honda recently launched the successor to the CB500X, namely the NX500, with a price tag of Rs 5.90 lakh. While it’s a very likeable motorcycle, especially for the touring enthusiasts, there are a couple of similarly priced and more affordable alternatives that are worth considering.
Benelli TRK 502: Rs. 5.85 lakh
The Benelli TRK 502 is suitable for riders who like a dimensionally giant motorcycle with a lovely-sounding engine. It boasts a tall and muscular stance with a chunky front beak and a bulbous fuel tank. Moreover, its 500cc, parallel-twin engine, which isn’t really impressive in terms of performance, delivers a surreal aural experience.
Benelli Leoncino 500: Rs. 5.60 lakh
If the engine performance and sound of the TRK 502 entice you but its weight and seat height seem daunting, then the Leoncino 500 is a good option. It shares its engine with the TRK 502 but boasts a design which is more inclined towards being a scrambler. The accessibility of the Leoncino makes it more suitable than the TRK for riders whose majority of usage involves commuting and weekend rides.
Kawasaki Ninja 400: Rs. 5.24 lakh
The Kawasaki Ninja 400 is a phenomenal motorcycle, although expensive, for those who are willing to consider a sportbike. The Sugomi design, potent chassis, and comfortable yet sporty ergonomics make it an extremely fun and versatile machine. However, the highlight of the bike is its potent and smooth 399cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 44.7bhp and 37Nm.
Kawasaki Eliminator: Rs. 5.62 lakh
The Eliminator is the latest addition to Kawasaki’s Indian portfolio. It is a more accessible alternative to the Vulcan S and boasts a svelte, low-slung stance which looks elegant. It is powered by Kawasaki’s new 451cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 44.7bhp and 42.6Nm. With a kerb weight of 176kg, it should be a nimble and easy-to-manage offering, unlike most cruisers that are quintessentially heavy cruisers.
