You’ll always hear your parents tell you to buy a car over motorcycles as they’re safer. Because cars have latest gadgets that’ll save you from an accident or sometimes even prevent accidents. But for motorcycles, well, there isn’t enough safety technology, well, till now.
Honda has recently applied for a brilliant motorcycle technology patent – blind spot monitoring system. As per Honda, this system will warn the rider of any approaching vehicles in the blind spot and assist the rider in changing directions. This is done using a combination of camera and radar systems, which can be seen on this patent image where the VFR1200F has been used. This system will constantly scan for motorcycles, scooters, cars and even pedestrians. It’ll provide visual and physical feedback if the bike senses an immediate collision.
The haptic feedback will be provided through a vibrating motor located around the bike’s seat, grips and foot-pegs. The visual feedback will come via an indicator integrated on the instrument panel. While the patent didn’t reveal the name of the bikes this technology will come in, but we believe, Honda will try to load up most of the big bikes with it. But yes, be ready to pay a huge sum for it.
