- Honda NS125LA design patents filed
- Gets retro styling and a 124cc engine
- No word about India launch
Honda has filed design patents for the NS125LA scooter in India alongside the Winner X, which is a rival to the Yamaha Aerox 155.
The Honda NS125LA is a retro-styled scooter with rounded edges all over its bodywork. At closer glance, its rear side panels and the straight exhaust pipe look closely similar to the Suzuki Access 125, which it would compete against if launched in India. Adding to the styling is the minimal chrome elements that feature on the wheels, exhaust muffler, mirrors and bar ends. Honda has also plonked in a ribbed-pattern seat that exudes the scooter's old-school appeal.
Underneath the appreciably retro body is a 124cc engine putting out 8.9bhp and 9.8Nm. In comparison, the Suzuki Access 125 offers 8.6bhp and 10Nm whereas the Yamaha Fascino 125 puts out 8.04bhp and 10.3Nm. The feature list on the Honda NS125LA is decent with LED lighting, and LCD instrument console, keyless ignition and USB charging as well.
Now, Honda does not retail a retro-styled scooter in India and the NS125LA would be a decent plug-in there. However, filing of design patents doesn’t always translate to the product being launched in the country.
