Honda has recalled the CBR300R and the CBR300F bikes in the US over faulty crankshafts. This recall affects close to 11,424 motorcycles.
As per Honda, the crankshaft may have been machined improperly, due to which the rod bearing might fail. And this might stall the engine, which may lead to a crash. Honda has found 41 motorcycles to have this issue till now, but with no injuries to any rider. In order to prevent this, Honda has asked its dealers not to sell the CBR300R and the CBR300F to any customers till the recall work is completed.
This major recall work is expected to begin from the end of this month. The Honda dealers will contact all the affected bike’s owners and ask them to get the bikes to the service station. The dealers will replace the crankshaft assembly free of charge.
