Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) have recalled the CBR250R and CBR150R motorcycles manufactured between July 2014 and June 2015. This is a precautionary step taken to inspect if the starter relay switch has some defect or not.
The manufacturer suspects that the sealant used during the assembly of the starter relay switch might have been applied incorrectly. Due to this, the resistance across the main fuse might rise causing a problem to the bike's battery voltage to the electrical system. This might further cause the engine to not start or stall on the run. In extreme cases, the increased resistance at the main fuse could cause the starter relay to catch fire.
No particular incident has been reported in any HMSI manufactured vehicle in India as of yet. HMSI will contact the concerned consumers to identify the problem in the bikes and will replace the defective parts free of cost.
