Honda seems to have struck gold this festive season as it recorded its highest ever sales in Dhanteras. The company sold 1.65 lakh units of its two-wheelers, which equates to a 110 per cent increase in numbers over the same period, last year.
Dhanteras is considered to be an auspicious day and traditionally, has been the day when the highest number of two-wheelers are bought in the country. Honda seems to have made the most of this day as many Honda dealerships had run out of stock by evening.
Commenting on this amazing feat, Mr. Y. S. Guleria, VP, sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, said, “This happens to be HMSI’s first festive season as only Honda in India and results of Dhanteras sales reinforces the trust that customers repose in Honda. Our ever highest Dhanteras sales of 1.65 lakh units takes the festive sales momentum even further. We hope to close this festive season with new records and thank the million Indian customers for choosing the Wings of Honda.”
The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer’s rapid growth has been fueled by the rising demand for its automatic scooter, the Honda Activa. The Activa recently dethroned the Hero Splendor as the highest selling two-wheeler in India and has been the company’s biggest asset in the Indian market. The commuter motorcycles in its range, the Dream series and the CB Shine, have also significantly contributed in driving up the company’s sales numbers.
