Continuing its stellar performance from the previous year, Honda has recorded a 14 per cent growth in overall sales in January 2015 as compared to the same period, last year. The company sold 3,93,787 units in the last month, clocking a 28 per cent market share of the Indian two-wheeler industry.
While Honda’s motorcycle sales declined by three per cent, the massive surge in scooter sales was enough to push the overall growth in the domestic market to 14 per cent. Exports numbers also grew by 18 per cent as the company shipped off 16,462 two-wheelers to its other global markets. As for the April 2014 to January 2015 period, Honda sold 36,92,374 two-wheelers which is 23 per cent more than what the company managed in the corresponding period, a year ago.
Last month, Honda announced an alliance with used car major Shriram Automall for the sale of pre-owned two-wheelers. Honda keeps conducting many customer interactive programs which raise awareness about the brand, helping it boost its sales. In January, the Japanese manufacturer inaugurated a children’s traffic park in Chandigarh which aims at raising traffic awareness about safe riding habits for two-wheelers and also conducted a safety awareness drive during the National Road Safety Week.
