Driven by the growing demand for its scooter range, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India registered a 17 per cent jump in sales number in November, this year. The Japanese manufacturer sold 3,72,036 units in the last month, thereby sealing its position as the country’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer.
The company is experiencing a phenomenal growth in the sale of its scooters, as it sold 32 per cent more scooters in the last month as compared to November 2013. While the export numbers have also gone up by 43 per cent, the sales of motorcycles declined by four per cent.
The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer’s consistent growth in India has been fueled by the strong demand for its automatic scooter, the Honda Activa. The commuter motorcycles in its range, the Dream series and the CB Shine, have also significantly contributed in driving up the company’s sales numbers.
The Indian market has been kind to Honda as the company has so far sold 29.49 lakh units, which is 25 per cent more than it managed in April – November period of 2013. Honda currently enjoys a 27 per cent market share in the domestic market, while the market share including the export numbers is 24 per cent.
Honda inaugurated its second Traffic Training Park in Delhi, the sixth of its kind in the country, last month. Such customer centric activities along with its scooters’ popularity have helped the company become the second largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country.
