Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) registered a 33 per cent growth in sales for January 2018. The manufacturer sold 5,17,732 units last month as compared to 3,89,313 units it sold in January 2017.
Motorcycle sales grew by 22 per cent with 1,69,505 units sold last month as opposed to the 1,39,161 motorcycles that were sold in the same period last year. On the other hand, scooters also saw an increase of 40 per cent from 2,28,811 in January 2017 to 3,19,305 units in the same month this year.
Honda’s export numbers also grew by 36 per cent with 28,923 units exported as compared to the 21,341 units last year in January. The manufacturer accredits the growth to its highest selling motorcycle and scooter, the CB Shine and the Honda Activa 4G. Rural and semi-urban areas account for 50 per cent of the demand and Honda says that the Budget 2018 will further have a positive growth in sales.
Honda had plans to launch four products in the fiscal year 2017. The last of these will be a motorcycle, which will be launched at the upcoming Auto Expo.
