Driven by the strong demand for the Activa and its commuter motorcycles, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has recorded its highest ever monthly sales in September 2014. The company sold 4,38,521 units of scooters and motorcycles in the last month, registering an amazing growth of 32 per cent over the same period, last year.
The high demand for Honda two-wheelers during Navratri festival saw the Japanese manufacturer go past the four lakh barrier for the first time, while the sales in the first six months of this financial year have crossed 22 lakh units.
Honda’s remarkable growth is expected to continue in the forthcoming festive season too. A couple of months ago, the Activa took over the crown of the highest selling two-wheeler in the country from Hero Splendor and has been the company’s biggest asset in the Indian market. The commuter motorcycles in its range, the Dream series and the CB Shine, have also contributed significantly in helping the company achieve this feat.
Speaking about last month’s performance, Mr. Yadvinder Guleria, VP, sales and marketing, HMSI said, “September has been a phenomenal month for Honda. Our customer base has reached 18 million. We have recorded our highest ever sales of 4.38 lakh this month. From Gujarat to Kolkata, we are witnessing overwhelming customer response this Navratras and expect the cheer to continue in October 2014 as well.”
