Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has reported an increase of 19 per cent in its overall October sales. The company sold 4,49,028 units as compared to 3,77,001 units in the same month last year.
Out of the total sales, the motorcycle sales went down to 1,61,685 units from 1,62,188 units in October 2014. However, the scooters showed a tremendous growth to 2,70,271 units as compared to 1,99,466 units in the corresponding month last year. Exports stood at 16,972 units, which is pretty decent.
Honda claims that its domestic share has increased by 1 per cent to 26 per cent and if exports are included, then the market share stands at 24 per cent. Interestingly, the Japanese manufacturer sold more than 90,000 units on the special occasion of Dusshera.
This stunning performance by Honda was a result of new product launches. Along with that, the company updated many high-selling models to attract more consumers. It’s ‘ 15 in 15’ strategy saw almost 13 products being launched in the current financial year. In the next few weeks, Honda will launch the CB Hornet 160R that will help the company compete with bikes like the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ.
