Honda two-wheelers has just announced that it resumed production at its Kumamoto Factory affected by an earthquake. Honda’s original target was to restore the plant by mid-August. Honda is now ready to resume full production at this earthquake affected plant.
As we reported, after the earthquake, production at the Kumamoto Factory was suspended from the night of April 14. On May 6, the factory resumed the supply of parts for Honda production operations outside of Japan, and then on May 13, the factory resumed assembly of power products. As for the worst affected motorcycle production, the factory resumed assembly of key models at a reduced volume on June 6, and since then the volume has increased in stages. Now, the production line for large-sized motorcycle models, is ready to resume production. As a result, overall production at the Kumamoto Factory was virtually normalised as of August 22, 2016.
During its period of closure, delivery times of models like the Goldwing and Africa Twin were majorly affected. The flagship motorcycle factory also manufactures the CBR1000RR Fireblade, VFR1200G, NC750X, CRF250X as well as parts for these motorcycles.
Honda has said it continues to wish for the earliest possible recovery of the affected area. The Japanese manufacturer also said it is making the utmost effort to deliver its products to customers who are waiting for them.
