In the world of overland adventures, the Africa Twin has managed to set its own mark. But now, the new Africa Twin wants to conquer the rally world too, with the CRF1000L Rally version which was unveiled recently.
This bike is based on the Africa Twin Enduro concept which was showcased at the 2016 EICMA show. While there has been no change to the 998cc parallel twin engine, Honda has given the riders the option of changing and installing different engine maps using a smartphone application. It also gets a titanium Termigoni exhaust.
In order to take on the rugged terrains, Honda has equipped the bike with a higher front fender, skid plate, new windscreen and tail tidy. It also comes with proper off-road tyres that enables the bike to be ridden on any kind of terrain. To keep the weight down, some parts of the exterior are made with carbon fibre bits.. The Japanese manufacturer has made some changes to the suspension as well.
The Africa Twin CRF1000L Rally will be sold in two versions – manual and DCT versions. The manual has been priced at £18,745 (Rs 15.15 lakh), whereas the DCT version is more expensive at £19,748( 15.97 lakh).
