Honda has released images of their upcoming 400cc motorcycles. The CBR400R, the CBR400F and the CBR400X are the three motorcycles that the company will be launching at the Osako Motor Show this week. You might be thinking, these motorcycles look similar to their 500cc range which was unveiled last year. You are right. These new 400cc motorcycles are a toned-down version of the 500cc range.
Like the CBR500’s, Honda has targeted three versions of motorcycles. CBR400R is a fully-faired version, CBR400F is a naked version and the CBR400X is an adventure touring model. The Honda trios have been specially developed for growing Asian market like India.
These machines might be powered by the same engine as the CBR500 but the reduced bore and stroke. The company will share parts for these motorcycles with the CBR500 to keep costs in check and this would result an aggressive pricing.
We expect Honda to launch the CBR400 range in India before the CBR500 as the former makes more sense to a country like India where the premium motorcycle segment is developing fast but is also price sensitive. Honda might experiment with the CBR400’s first and if they see good sales, they might get the CBR500’s as well. Honda CBR400’s will join the sub-400cc segment with soon to be launched KTM Duke 390 and Pulsar 375 which will be launched next year. We expect the pricing of these motorcycles to start from Rs 3 lakh.
