- Likely to produce more power
- Chassis could also be updated
Honda’s litre-class offering, the CBR1000RR-R, is one of the most powerful sportbikes globally with an output of 215bhp even in its stock form. As if that isn’t earth-shattering already, the Japanese bike maker is working on an ever more performance-oriented iteration of the Blade for 2024, if an online rumour is anything to go by.
Honda is said to be going all-out with the CBR before more stringent emissions norms come into play. Once new norms kick in, dishing out more performance will get extremely challenging due to many constraints. Moreover, one of the major benefits of the performance bump is likely to be Honda’s progress in the World Superbike Championship. The company hasn’t had any success in the racing league for a while, despite increasing the Fibreblade’s power output in 2020. And speaking of racing, the said updates could also be on the chassis front to make the bike handle better around the race track and outside of it.
The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade retails in India with a steep price tag (ex-showroom) of Rs 23.56 lakh for the standard trim and Rs 24.07 lakh for the SP variant. Notably, it was about Rs 10 lakh more expensive before Honda slashed its prices in April this year. Now, whether the aforementioned updated model of the Blade will come to India is difficult to predict as of now.
