Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) announced a 12 per cent decline in the overall sales for November 2015. The company sold 3,26,895 units last month as compared to 3,71,764 units sold in November 2014. This includes exports and domestic sales of motorcycles as well scooters.
Scooter sales fell slightly during the same period, with 2,08,014 units sold in November 2015 as against 2,16,952 units in the same month last year. The motorcycle sales also went down as the manufacturer sold 1,04,490 units last month. They had sold 1,36,786 units sold in the corresponding period in 2014.
The small dip in sales figures can be attributed to the planned three-day plant maintenance shutdown. Even if the HMSI sales report show a decrease in sales numbers, the number of vehicles sold are not less by the industry standards. The company managed to reach the three million units sales landmark in just eight months, which is a new milestone for them. Backed by the festive season, they also set a record of crossing 2.2 lakh units sold in one day on Dhanteras.
HMSI recently launched the CB Shine SP and is now gearing up for the launch of the CB Hornet 160 R on December 10. It is this year’s last product to be introduced from the extensive launch strategy that they had planned.
