Honda two-wheeler sales grew 23 per cent with sales increasing from 3,31,859 units in June 2015 to 4,07,979 units in June 2016. A major player for Honda is the Activa range, it contributes significantly by selling more than two lakh units a month.
Honda’s scooter sales jumped 21 per cent and stood at 2,65,361 units led by Activa. The Activa is also India’s highest selling two-wheeler of 2016 after surpassing the Hero Splendor. Increased demand of motorcycles led by CB Shine SP, CD 110 Dream DX, Livo and CB Hornet 160R saw Honda’s motorcycle sales grow from 27 per cent to 1,42,618 units.
The export numbers grew 13 per cent from 17,015 units in June 2015 to 19,243 units in June 2016. This comes as a surprise because the two-wheeler industry saw an export decline of around 11 per cent. Talking about surprises, the Navi has been selling well for the Japanese manufacturer as it recently crossed the 10,000 unit mark.
