Honda Shine is not just the best-selling 125cc motorcycle in India but also has also been clinching the second spot in the overall motorcycle sales every month. The simple yet purposeful formula of the Shine has been striking a chord with Indian buyers ever since its inception. But what exactly are these qualities that have made it a huge success? And what all should you know before buying it? Read on to find out.
Easy on the eye
The conventional and proportionate styling of the Shine is pretty easy on the eye and liked by all age groups. There’s an angular headlamp surrounded by a small cowl, a curvy fuel tank, and a stubby tail. Adding a bit of bling here are chrome elements in certain areas like the front end, under the seat, and on the exhaust. Honda offers the Shine in four colours including black, metallic grey, matte grey, red, and blue.
Smooth engine
As is the case with most Hondas, the Shine’s prime USP is its extremely refined 125cc, air-cooled engine. This almost vibe-free motor churns out 10.59bhp of power at 7,500rpm and 11Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a five-speed gearbox.
Comfort
With a pulled-back tubular handlebar and slightly forward-set footpegs, the Shine offers a neutral and upright riding position. Even the seat is spacious to accommodate two large-sized individuals with high comfort. What’s more, the suspension setup has been tuned to deliver a plush ride over broken roads.
Pricing
The Honda Shine is also the most affordable motorcycle in India. The drum brake variant of the motorcycle is priced at Rs 74,943 while the front disc version costs Rs 79,343 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
