Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has announced that their 125cc commuter motorcycle, the Shine has achieved the one crore unit sales milestone in our market since its launch in 2006. Honda said in its press announcement that the Shine holds more than 50 per cent market share in the 125cc segment of the Indian market. The company also added that Shine is now the first 125cc motorcycle brand to reach the one crore customers mark.
The 125cc motorcycle crossed the 10 lakh unit sales milestone in 2010. It then achieved 50 lakh and 70 lakh sales in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
The company offers the BS6-compliant Honda Shine in the Indian market at Rs 74,442 for the drum variant and Rs 78,842 for the disc brake version (both ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle uses a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. Linked to a five-speed gearbox, the motor produces 10.59bhp at 7,500rpm and 11Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm.
