Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has announced the launch of the 2023 Shine 125 in our market. The latest iteration of the commuter motorcycle is available in two variants, and its prices start from Rs. 79,800 onwards.
The two variants share an identical colour palette that comprises five options – Black, Geny Grey Metallic, Matte Axis Grey, Rebel Red Metallic, and Decent Blue Metallic. Both these variants get styling enhancement in the form of chrome elements that are visible on the headlight cowl, side panels, and muffler heat cover. The styling cues comprise a single-pod headlight with a body-coloured cowl and front fender, a single-piece saddle, a side-slung exhaust, and five-spoke alloy wheels shod in tubeless tyres.
Notably, the colour choices do not affect the prices of these variants. Thus, the base model is priced at Rs. 79,800, while the disc brake variant is priced at Rs. 83,800.
Then, the engine specifications are identical on both variants and they use the same 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with fuel injection technology, enhanced Smart Power (eSP), and Honda ACG starter. Linked to a five-speed gearbox, this motor delivers a maximum output of 10.6bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 11Nm at 6,000rpm. While the numbers are similar to the previous model, this engine is now OBD2 and E20 fuel-compliant.
The suspension setup on both variants comprises telescopic front forks and five-step adjustable rear springs. The anchoring setup on the base model includes 130mm drum brakes on both wheels, while the higher version uses a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake.
