Honda recently launched the SP160 in India, a sportier and premium version of the Honda Unicorn. Although the motorcycle doesn’t have a direct rival, it competes against the Suzuki Gixxer. So, how does the Honda SP160 stack up against the Gixxer regarding specifications and features? Let’s find out.
Design
The SP160 features a sporty design language, which includes a sharp-looking LED headlamp and aggressive tank shrouds. The overall styling is exactly what you’d expect from a sporty commuter. The Suzuki Gixxer, on the other hand, is a naked streetfighter. It also features a sporty design philosophy, including a low-set LED headlamp, a muscular fuel tank with extensions, and a raked tail section.
Features
As for the features, the Honda SP160 gets an LED headlight, fully-digital instrument cluster, LED taillight and single-channel ABS. Meanwhile, the Gixxer comes loaded with an LED headlamp, Bluetooth connectivity, digital instrumentation, split seats, and single-channel ABS.
Engine Specifications
Powering the SP160 is a 162.71cc, single-cylinder engine that delivers 13.27bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 14.59Nm at 5,500rpm. This OBD-2-compliant motor comes linked to a five-speed gearbox and is compatible with E20 fuel requirements.
The Gixxer uses a 155cc, air-cooled motor that churns out 13.41bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.8Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. This single-cylinder engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
Cycle Parts and Pricing
The Honda SP160 features petal discs at the front and back, while it gets alloy wheels at both ends. Suspension tasks are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The Gixxer features hardware similar to the SP160. It also gets disc brakes at both ends and alloy wheels. Suspension hardware includes telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock.
As for the pricing, the SP160 is available in two variants and the prices start at Rs. 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Suzuki Gixxer is priced between Rs. 1.36 lakh to 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
