Honda India announced that it has crossed the 25 million milestone in terms of scooter sales in India. The company reached the 10 million sales mark in 2013, the next 10 million by in 2016 after which 5 million more scooters have been sold till now. Notably, Honda possesses 57 per cent share in the Indian scooter market.
The product which majorly contributes to the company's ever growing sales numbers in that segment is the Honda Activa which currently holds sway over 32 per cent of the market share in its segment. The Activa was launched in 2001 and is in its fifth generation right now. It is powered by a 109.19cc motor that produces 8bhp of power and 9Nm of torque. Based on the same powerplant, Honda has other scooters as well, which include the Activa i, Dio, Navi, Cliq and the Aviator.
Honda’s scooter portfolio also consists of two 125cc offerings which include the Activa 125 and the Grazia, both of which are powered by a 124.9cc motor that is good for 8.52bhp and 10.54Nm.
