Honda has temporarily suspended operations at its Kumamoto (Ozu-machi, Kikuchi-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture) motorcycle factory after two devastating earthquakes hit the area in south-western Japan.
Honda released a short statement confirming its plant, which is responsible for manufacturing the CBR1000RR Fireblade, GL1800 Goldwing, VFR1200G, NC750X, CRF250X, will remain closed until Friday at the earliest while experts investigate whether it is safe for workers to return.
Honda has halted operations at the factory until April 22, 2016. Honda also said subsequent production plans will be determined according to facility restorations and component supply.
The earthquakes, which occurred across southern Japan on Thursday and Saturday killed at least 41 people and have caused severe destruction to infrastructure, causing many other companies to place production plans on hold, including electronics giant Sony and car manufacturers Nissan and Toyota.
