- Plant has been shut since last 3 days
- Activa and Dio scooters are produced here
- The plant’s conveyor developed some problem
Honda had shut its Vithalpur plant temporarily for technical reasons. The company says that the plant’s conveyor belt developed some problems.
The company manufactures the Activa and Dio at this plant, which is situated around 80kms from Ahmedabad. This plant which was inaugurated in 2016 has a production capacity of 12 lakhs units. The company hasn’t said if this shutdown will lead to demand-supply gap, but we are expecting the buyers to have on time deliveries of their scooters as demand for these scooters have sobered down. There were some rumours floating around the internet about a possible accident inside the plant. However, the company denied these rumours through an official statement.
“There was a technical trouble on the conveyor at our Vithalapur plant and it is under repair. We have made some adjustment in the working calendar to upgrade the facilities to improve the working of the conveyor. There are absolutely no injuries or casualties to any of our associates," said Honda.
