Honda is currently developing an all- new two-wheeler as a part of its strategy that will see the company strengthening its position in India. The new model is expected to be rolled-out within next one year.
The upcoming two-wheeler will be 100 per cent developed and produced in India with the help of 200 engineers of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter Indian (HMSI) and Honda Research and Development India. However, the company is yet not disclosed whether the new model will be a scooter or a motorcycle.
We believe the company is developing a motorcycle on a completely new platform. There is a high chance that the Japanese manufacturer is developing a motorcycle that will sit between the current 150cc and 250cc range. This entire segment at range is considered to be performance oriented and Honda does have two models on offer, but considering the fact that the company is making its presence every segment, we can expect an RTR 180 and Pulsar 200 NS competitor.
"The work is happening at our technical centre at Manesar, which has an integrated system of design, engineering, purchasing and quality under one roof," said Yadvinder Singh Guleria, VP, sales & marketing, HMSI.
