Honda has announced that John McGuiness and Conor Cummins will continue to race for the company’s 2015 road racing campaigns. Both McGuiness and Cummins will race a prepped-up CBR1000RR Fireblade SP in the Superbike and Senior classes at the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200.
McGuiness’ 2014 campaign was marred by injuries as he suffered from a broken scaphoid, the result of a crash in an off-road motorcycle. Despite the injuries, the 21-time Isle of Man TT winner managed to show a respectable performance in the TT races, and a victory in the TT Zero class. Cummins on the other hand, had a great run in 2014 as he secured podium finishes at the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT races. With a season of experience with the Fireblade SP under his belt, we are sure that the 28-year old will bring in some good results.
Besides racing for the Honda factory team, both McGuiness and Cummins will also race for the privately owned Jackson Racing team in the Supersports class at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT, as well as the superstock class at the Endurance World Championship.
Maintaining a positive outlook for 2015, McGuinness said, “There’s no denying that 2014 was a tough year for me. It shook my confidence and held me back but I’m ready to put it all behind me and get back to the business of winning races. I can’t wait to get back on the bike and prove that there’s life in the old dog yet.”
