- Reviewing new model launches, network expansion and production targets
- Six BS6 models already launched in India
- Production temporarily suspended
The Coronavirus Pandemic has brought production to a temporary standstill as the government is trying to curb its growth through lockdown. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, too, has suspended the production and announced measures through which the two-wheeler manufacturer plans to help its authorised dealers.
The company is also reviewing and realigning its new models, network infrastructure expansion and assessing the capacity utilization for the future based on the inputs coming from its ground teams. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said that the final decisions will depend upon when the lockdown will be lifted or any economic package announced by the government.
The company’s cross-functional teams are providing reports that will help the brand decide which projects need to be continued.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched six BS6 compliant models – Activa 6G, Activa 125, Dio, Shine, SP125 and the Unicorn – till now. Meanwhile, the company has removed all the models that are yet to receive the BS6 upgrade from its website. The Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler brand may discontinue a few models during the BS6 transition.
