Honda is planning to tap the potential of e-commerce, by selling the CB Hornet 160R through an online portal. While Honda has already started accepting bookings for the bike through its dealers, the company will soon launch an online portal to allow customers to book the CB Hornet 160R.
The CB Hornet 160R is going to be Honda’s latest offensive in the rapidly growing premium commuter segment. Packing a 160cc engine and elegant looks, the CB Hornet will be positioned above the CB Unicorn 160, as a successor to the CB Trigger. While the CB Unicorn 160 has been pegged as an economical commuter bike, the CB Hornet 160R will target an audience looking for a sportier motorcycle.
Honda isn’t the first manufacturer to adopt this route, as Mahindra and Suzuki have already started allowing customers to buy their motorcycles online. It is not yet clear whether Honda is going to start e-booking through their official website or just hand over the responsibility to some other e-commerce site. Either way, it would be interesting to see how fruitful this exercise turns out to be. Supposing that this experiment turns out to be successful, we can safely expect Honda to start offering this service for the rest of its line-up too.
