A few months ago, Honda said that they will be showcasing a revolutionary model at 2016 Auto Expo that will create a new segment. Now, thanks to our source, we’ve learned that this new model is a commuter motorcycle with a start-stop system.
Nothing new here, right? The Hero Splendor iSmart already features this fuel-saving feature. But we believe Honda has gone a step further and has developed a smarter start-stop system that will be seen in its new motorcycle. As per our source, this new model will only be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo as the launch is still a couple of months away.
Interestingly, a couple of months ago, Honda had disputed Hero MotoCorp’s fuel efficiency claim of 102.5 kmpl for the Splendor iSmart. Now it makes complete sense why the Japanese manufacturer took this dispute public. The claim by Hero could hurt Honda’s upcoming new bike, which will see a similar technology.
The Start-stop system switches off the engine when the bike idles in neutral for around 5 seconds. And if you want to start the bike, you can do that by pressing the clutch. Such systems help in saving fuel fuel which eventually leads to a better fuel efficiency.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details on this new Honda motorcycle.
