Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) overall sales have dipped by 12 per cent at 3,06,779 units in December 2015 year on year. Scooter sales have contributed to almost 65 per cent (1,98,332 units) of the total sales last month.
HMSI sold 3,06,779 units in December 2015 with motorcycles contributing only 92,380 units of the total sales. Honda had sold 3,48,737 units in December 2014 of which 1,21,489 were motorcycles, 2,08,490 scooters and 18,578 export units. While motorcycle sales have dipped by almost 24 per cent, scooters took a hit of less than five per cent. Even exports have come down by 10 per cent at 16,067 units.
Honda holds a 25 per cent share of the two-wheeler market with more than 33.5lakh units being sold from April to December. The scooters have contributed to 62 per cent of the total sales exhibiting Honda’s stronghold of the scooter market in India with its Activa-i, Activa 3G and Activa 125 scooters along with the Honda Dio and the Aviator.
Honda motorcycles include the Dream series which includes the CD110 Dream, Dream Neo and Dream Yuga and the Honda CB Shine for commuting. The premium commuting motorcycles include the Honda Livo, CB Unicorn 160 and the recently launched CB Hornet 160R. In performance motorcycles, we have the CBR range that includes the 150R, the CBR 250R, CBR 650F and CBR1000RR Fireblade.
