The Honda Unicorn is one of the longest-running models in the brands portfolio. It has also been selling quite well since its inception, mainly for its no-nonsense nature and practicality. In case you’re planning to buy one, here’s all you need to know about the Unicorn.
Design
Similar to most of its other aspects, the design of the Honda Unicorn hasn’t changed much. It looks quite simple with an angular headlamp surrounded by large cowl, a curvy fuel tank, and a long tail section. There are chrome accents too in certain areas to add a bit of sassiness to its aesthetics. It is available in three colour options including black, red, and grey.
Engine
The engine of the Unicorn had received a displacement bump during the BS6 transition. The motorcycle is now powered by a 162.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder that churns out 12.73bhp of power and 14Nm of peak torque. The strongest traits of this engine are the refinement and fuel efficiency that are difficult to match by other products in this segment.
Cycle parts
Underpinned by a diamond-type chassis, the Unicorn rides on large 18-inch wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Interestingly, back when the first-gen Unicorn was introduced, it was the first mass-market product to get a monoshock. The stopping power comes from a 240mm single disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear. Tipping the scales at 140kg, the Unicorn is pretty light and easily manageable in traffic.
Price
Honda retails the Unicorn only in a single variant with a price tag of Rs 1,02,533 (ex-showroom, Delhi) . The closest competitor it has in India is the Bajaj Pulsar 150 and the TVS Apache RTR 160.
