Honda has launched two new special edition CBR1000RR Fireblade SP motorcycles, exclusively for the UK market. Christened TT Special and Black Edition, these models made their debut at the Silverstone round of the 2016 British Superbike Championship.
The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP TT Special comes painted in a special tri-colour livery used by British road-racing legend, John McGuinness. The bike is being pegged as a tribute to McGuinness, for breaking the lap record at the Isle of Man TT, last year. The upgrades aren’t limited to the livery, as the bike also gets a host of aftermarket parts to boost the aesthetic appeal as well as performance. The 999cc inline four engine now breathes more freely thanks to a racy Akrapovic exhaust system. Besides, it also benefits from special levers and lever guards, chain adjusters, paddock stand and crash pads and race-spec Galfer brake rotors. The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP Black Edition also gets all the above mentioned aftermarket parts, along with an additional dark tinted bubble screen and carbon fiber accents to complement the bike’s black paint scheme. The Akrapovic exhaust system is an optional extra.
While almost all the litre-class superbikes have had a generation change in the recent past, it has been over three years since the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade received a major upgrade. However, the Japanese manufacturer does keep bringing special edition versions and minor updates for the ‘Blade to extend the superbike’s life. The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP Black Edition has been priced at GBP 12,199 (Rs 11.5 lakh), while the TT Special retails at GBP 16,999 (Rs 16.08 lakh). Both the motorcycles will be produced in a limited run, just for the UK market.
