- Based on the CB4 Interceptor concept
- Likely to be powered by a parallel-twin motor
Honda’s new Neo Sports Café design language has given rise to a slew of naked bikes with modern tech that has received a good response in the international market. Even in India, the company launched the CB1000R+ and its scaled-down version, the CB300R, which has been drawing in a lot of attention from motorcyclists. Now, building on the same neo-retro design strategy, Honda seems to be working on a new café racer offering, says Japan’s Young Machines magazine.
The new age café racer is expected to draw its design cues from the GB series of motorcycles that Honda used to sell in the ’80s. The GB series of motorcycles was inspired by other British motorcycles of that era which were sold in Japan, Europe and America.
In the case of the modern version, the styling on the render motorcycle closely matches that of the CB4 Interceptor concept that Honda has revealed during EICMA 2017. Maintaining the same body lines, the design has been updated with a few changes like bar-end mirrors, side indicators, a more realistic seat, headlamp unit, low-slung exhaust canister and spoke wheels. Besides that, one of the most notable aspects of the rendering is a large parallel-twin motor instead of the inline-four motor showcased on the concept. Apparently, the motor used is the same one that is said to also power the Africa Twin.
Now, the big question that remains is whether this setup makes it to the final production-spec model. We surely hope Honda does so!
