Honda is currently working on a three-wheeled motorcycle similar to the Yamaha Tricity and the Piaggio MP3. This information was revealed when the Japanese manufacturer filed a patent in Japan.
This new three-wheeled motorcycle will be based on the Honda NC750 platform. This motorcycle platform has already been used to develop the Integra scooter, which is a brilliant product in itself. As per the latest patent documents, the Japanese manufacturer is working on a version with two wheels at the front. Just like the Yamaha Tricity, this three-wheeled motorcycle will lean using a parallelogram-style front suspension arrangement, which allow the wheels to move up and down in relation to each other. The patent also revealed that the front tyres will be smaller than the rear tyre.
Three-wheeled scooters or motorcycles are more of a lifestyle product, which finds a market in development countries. One of the main reasons manufacturers enter this segment is to play around with various technologies they have at their disposal, and create something unique. Only few manufacturers risk their time and money to develop such products and this is why we have a limited.
