Honda has unveiled the new X-Blade premium commuter bike at the 2018 Auto Expo. The company also unveiled the 2018 model of their highest selling scooter, the Activa.
The Honda X-Blade is based on the CB Hornet 160R's platform. It gets LED headlamps and tail lamps with sculpted fuek tank, dark visor and a dual-outlet exhaust system. These cues give it an agressive appeal which is sure to strike a chord with the youth. It is powered by a 162cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine, delivering 13.8bhp and 13.9Nm of torque. It also gets a fully digital instrument cluster.
Honda has taken the 'don't fix it, if it isn't boken' approach with the new Activa. Christened as the Activa 5G, it gets new LED headlamp, slight revisions for the bodywork, new paint schemes and some additional chrome bits. It also gets a digital display for the instrument console. Apart from these, it retains the conservative looks and the underpinnings which have propelled it to the top of sales charts. Even the rest of the range has been uodates for 2015 with new paint schemes. CBR250R has made a comeback in BS-IV-compliant avatar, and with LED headlamps.
The premium commuter segment has been witnessing a lot of activity of late. This the second such offering from Honda in the last two years. And if the sales performance of the CB Hornet 160R is anything to go by, the X-Blade should also turn out to be a successful product. As for the Activa 5G, there is no doubt that it will continue to rule the roost in the two-wheeler industry.
