- Launch likely soon
- May share its engine with the Unicorn BS6
- Likely to carry a price premium over the BS4 version
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is updating its product portfolio with the launch of BS6-compliant models. Until now, the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler brand has launched the BS6-compliant Activa 6G, Activa 125, Dio, Grazia 125, Unicorn, Shine, SP125 and CD110. The company will soon introduce the Livo BS6, and the upcoming commuter motorcycle has already been teased ahead of its imminent launch.
In the latest updates, dealer sources suggest that the company will soon bring the BS6-compliant X-Blade to the Indian market. The details are scarce, although the updated model should carry similar styling cues as its BS4 iteration. Thus, expect to see a muscular design that will be complemented by features such as LED headlight, body-coloured headlight mask, fly-screen at the front and a digital instrument cluster.
In terms of mechanical specifications, the Honda X-Blade BS6 will most likely use the same engine that powers the Unicorn BS6. Linked to a five-speed transmission, the 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine on the Unicorn 160 BS6 is tuned to produce 12.7bhp of power at 7,500rpm and 14Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm.
The hardware specifications will most likely include conventional telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back to perform the suspension tasks. Anchoring duties will be performed by a disc brake at the front and a drum at the back while the safety will include a single-channel ABS.
The updated model will most likely carry a price premium over its predecessor, and we expect the X-Blade BS6 to be expensive by Rs 8,000-10,000 more expensive than its BS4 version.
