Honda has surprised us by launching the new XL750 Transalp adventure tourer in India. The smaller version of the Africa Twin has been priced at Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, this is the introductory pricing which means it will be increased in the near future. The first batch of the motorcycle in India will comprise 100 units only, bookings for which are already open at Honda’s BigWing dealerships.
The design of the Transalp is closely inspired by its bigger sibling, the Africa Twin. It comprises a sharp headlamp that sits in an angular semi-fairing and is crowned by a tall windscreen. The overall bodywork flows seamlessly from the front to the rear and looks stunning with the chunky exhaust canister. The design is complemented by a host of modern features like a 5-inch TFT screen, full-LED lighting, smartphone connectivity, voice-assisted features, emergency stop signal, traction control, ride-by-wire, slipper clutch, and as many as five riding modes.
Powering the motorcycle is a 755cc parallel-twin engine that pumps out 90bhp and 75Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Nestled in a steel diamond-type frame, this engine boasts a 270-degree crank for better versatility. As for the cycle parts, the XL750 Transalp rides on a 21-18-inch spoke wheel combination that is suspended by Showa USD forks and Pro-Link rear monoshock. Braking is handled by dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
The new Honda XL750 Transalp will be available in two colour options – Ross White and Matte Ballistic Black. Deliveries of the bike will begin from next month.
