Honda recently launched the Airblade 160 in international markets, going head-on with the Yamaha Aerox 155. Even though it is unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon, it seems like an interesting proposition, so here we tell you all you need to know about the Honda Airblade 160.
PCX-inspired design
The Airblade 160 bears a maxi-scooter styling and for 2022 gets a few tweaks to make it more appealing. To begin with, it takes reference from Honda’s PCX range of scooters for the front end that sports an LED headlamp that is radically designed. That said, it also gets aggressive lines all through the bodywork for a sporty appeal. Additionally, there is a large and wide seat and a ‘spine’ in between, just like the Aerox 155.
Engine
Powering the Airblade 160 is a 160cc engine that it borrows from the Vario 160, which is also sold in international markets. This engine churns out 15.2bhp and 14.2Nm, slightly higher than the Aerox 155’s numbers.
Features
In terms of features, Honda has revised the frame, making it lighter than before. That has also resulted in a larger under seat capacity that now has a 23.2-litre of storage. This is said to be enough for two half-face helmets and comes with a USB charger as standard. Along with this feature, the Honda Airblade 160 also gets a digital instrument cluster and smart key along with a single-channel ABS.
India launch timeline
Now, as we mentioned earlier, the Honda Airblade 160 seems like an interesting two-wheeler considering the features and performance it offers. However, Honda seems to believe in a more tailored approach for the Indian market offering products that are tuned for the country’s need for fuel-efficiency. However, if it does arrive, we can expect it to costs around Rs 1.30-1.35 lakh, ex-showroom.
