- Honda’s upcoming 100cc motorcycle teased again
- Likely to use the ‘Shine’ nomenclature
- Direct rival to the Hero Splendor Plus
Honda has released the second teaser of its upcoming commuter motorcycle. After the design of the bike was teased last week, the latest teaser gives a hint about the name it might carry. The launch invitation mail sent out by Honda associates this product with a ‘shining future’ which makes us believe that it will be a 100cc version of the Shine.
The teaser also gives a glimpse of the design it will possibly incorporate. It shows a bold headlamp accompanied by a bikini fairing and a wide and pulled-back handlebar. The fuel tank joins a long tail section which accommodates a flat, single-piece seat. If the image in the teaser is anything to go by, the motorcycle looks like a typical commuter.
As for the hardware, the motorcycle seems to be sporting 18-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by telescopic forks up front and dual springs at the rear. The braking setup will perhaps comprise a drum at both ends for keeping the costs in check. As for the engine, there’s no information available on that front yet. However, considering the nature of other 110cc and 125cc Honda engines, this should be an extremely refined and fuel-efficient motor.
As of now, the only 100cc motorcycle available in the Indian market is the Hero Splendor Plus which has been the highest-selling two-wheeler in India for years now. With its upcoming 100cc motorcycle, Honda is clearly aiming to take on the Splendor and increase its market share in the entry-level commuter segment.
